Meet Talia
Naturopath (BHSc) with a special focus in gut issues
Hi! I’m Talia, a degree-qualified naturopath with a deep passion for gut and nervous system health.
My journey to naturopathy started with my own diagnosis of IBD and many recurrent illnesses. When I was 15 I was experiencing daily anxiety and chronic gut symptoms, which led to me being diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Due to being diagnosed early and so young, my specialist encouraged me to manage my condition through my diet and lifestyle which was the biggest blessing. It was here I started paying attention to what foods I was eating and using food as medicine.
Fast forward to 19 years old, I was at uni studying to be an osteopath and started experiencing similar gut symptoms - abdominal pain, increased bowel frequency, alongside daily bloating and a range of food sensitivities. My routine colonoscopy came back clear, I was still in remission. My doctor sent me on my way, yet I was still experiencing daily symptoms despite going back to a similar approach to when I was 15.
In amongst all of this, I was experiencing recurrent tonsilitis, respiratory infections (hello rounds of antibiotics) chronic fatigue, glandular fever and a bout of shingles. My body was screaming for help, but all my bloods kept coming back as "normal".
The answers, or lack of, I was provided with by doctors just didn’t cut it for me. I knew there was something else going on and really believed in my body's ability to heal if given the right tools.
I dropped out of my osteopathy degree and jumped straight into Naturopathy. It was here I began to learn all that I needed to heal myself and others who have been through a similar experience.
"I deeply empathise and work hard to advocate for those experiencing chronic, debilitating symptoms also struggling to find answers."
"My approach is evidence-informed and deeply holistic. I aim to empower individuals with the tools and knowledge to take control of their health, and find true healing rather than band-aid solutions."
Outside of clinic...
you'll usually find me in the kitchen, with my head in a book or spending time with my family and friends. I'm a huge foodie, so my weekends usually revolve around cooking, farmers markets and taking advantage of Melbourne’s vibrant food culture.
I also love spending time by the beach or during the cold Melbourne winter going for hikes and bush walks.
This is a deep journey together. Book a 30 min zoom call to chat about what testing you might need, which program is best for you, and the next steps for fixing your gut...
