Toxins are the invisible cause of illness that no one is talking about. The problem is just that – they’re invisible. How do we understand and deal with something we can’t even see?
We can see the soda and the fast food. We can see the sugar and the medications and the smoking. We can see sitting at our desk all day not exercising. Hell, we can even see stress and what it does to us.
But we can’t see the toxic chemicals and metals that we’ve been exposed to slowly over our entire lives. And the damage they are doing inside of us.
Can you see the fluoride and chlorine in the water?
Can you see the pesticides on the perfect looking vegetables?
Can you see the industrial pollution in the air?
Can you see the chemicals and metals in the oceans?
Can you see the poisons in your perfumes and sprays?
Can you see the fire retardants that are sprayed all over your furniture and carpet?
But that doesn’t mean it’s not there. That doesn’t mean it’s not affecting us.
Toxins interfere with the normal physiology of our body. Meaning – they interrupt the normal functioning of cells and of organs, and they cause disease.
The real problem is that many toxins bioaccumulate in the body. Especially toxic metals, which accumulate deep within body tissues and organs.
“Depending on where toxic metals accumulate, the resulting effects may be given names such as hypothyroidism, diabetes or cancer.” Lawrence Wilson, M.D.
We’re collecting toxins over a lifetime
If you are, or have ever been, eating a diet of conventional produce, some packaged food, then your body is dealing with massive exposure to toxic chemicals like heavy metals, petrochemicals, pesticides, synthetic fertilisers, antibiotics and hormones (in conventional meat and dairy).
We are all exposed to this stuff, just through living our normal lives. And if you think just because you eat healthy and have switched some of your products it doesn’t affect you, then think again.
One of the biggest mistakes we make with healing our bodies is that we stop doing things we start learning aren’t health like wearing perfume and using toxic cleaning products, but we don’t address or even think about the fact that all those toxins have been building up in our system the entire time we’ve been using that stuff.
All of that doesn’t just go out of the body the second you stop doing something.
We are all overloaded, and we have reached a tipping point. That tipping point is what triggers illness.
Aren’t they tested for safety?
Surely the government agencies there to protect us wouldn’t approve anything that wasn’t safe, right? Surely they do their tests and research before approving chemicals, right?
Wrong. They approve 90% of chemicals without restrictions.
We are the guinea pigs. It’s innocent until proven guilty – even when it comes to completely unnatural, never before seen chemicals, of which we have ZERO idea about the health consequences.
“Each year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reviews an average of 1,700 new compounds that industry is seeking to introduce. Yet the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act requires that they be tested for any ill effects before approval only if evidence of potential harm exists—which is seldom the case for new chemicals. The agency approves about 90 percent of the new compounds without restrictions. Only a quarter of the 82,000 chemicals in use in the U.S. have ever been tested for toxicity.” – National Geographic
THE STORY OF DDT
DDT was released for commercial distribution in 1948, but because of its toxicity, DDT was banned in 1972 in the US and then worldwide.
DDT is a NOW a known neurotoxin, carcinogen and xenoestrogen. But it was approved first, and only after years and years of evidence showing that it was dangerous was it banned.
We’ve seen this story many times now.
We are the lab rats for these chemicals.
DDT has been found in the sweat of polar bears, and in the tissues of animals, including the milk of human mothers.
If the bloody polar bears haven’t escaped, neither have you and I.
That’s just one chemical. It’s estimated that there are at least 77,000 different man-made chemicals that we have released on the planet.
THE BIGGEST STUDY ON THE TOXIC LOAD IN HUMANS EVER DONE
An extensive study on the toxic burden of Americans was funded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and conducted at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
They tested 9 adults, none of whom worked in industries that would give them and abnormally high amount of environmental toxic exposure. Journalist Bill Moyers (from the documentary Trade Secrets–well worth watching) was one of them.
All were tested for the presence of 210 contaminants that are recognised as persistent pollutants (toxins that bioaccumulate and stay in the body) like DDT.
The participants blood and urine showed the presence of 167 of the 210 contaminants, with an average of 91 in any given person.
Each person that was tested had an average of:
- 53 chemicals that are linked to cancer
- 63 compounds that are toxic to the central nervous system, including the brain
- 58 compounds toxic to the endocrine (hormonal) system
- 55 compounds that are toxic to the immune system and frequently lead to autoimmunity (fibromyalgia, lupus, multiple sclerosis) and an impaired ability to fight infections
This is what is inside all of us.
These were just normal, everyday people like you and I.
This isn’t something that’s just happening OUT THERE to THEM. It’s happening to YOU, and I, and EVERYONE!
CDC BODY BURDEN STUDIES
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been doing a “body burden” study on chemicals for the last 15 years. Their most recent report shows data for 212 chemicals, including pesticides, solvents, phthalates, BPA and heavy metals. (1)
KIDS ARE BEING BORN WITH A TOXIC LOAD
Children today are being born with hundreds of different chemicals in the blood of their umbilical chords.
EWG researchers found that newborns begin their lives with exposure to as many as 287 of the 413 toxic chemicals being studies. An average of 200 toxins were found per baby, and 101 toxins were found in all the babies.
They tested for 400+ chemicals and found 287. Of these, 180 cause cancer, 217 are are toxic to the brain or nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development.
Those babies were BORN with those chemicals inside of them.
How do you get it out of you?
So now we know these chemicals and toxins are inside of us, creating chaos at the cellular level which is causing disease in our bodies. How do you get it out?
Well first, you need to stop new exposures coming in. Which means a complete overhaul of diet, cleaning products, beauty products, personal care and finding all the sources of exposure in your life, and getting rid of them.
For that, I created the Free 5 Day Untoxblocked Challenge to help you start making those changes and getting rid of those toxblocks.
But then we still have the issue of those pesky bioaccumulating toxins. For those, you need to do deep detoxing. No, I’m not talking about a 7 day juice cleanse. I’m talking about serious detox strategies, done over long periods of time.
For that, I created the Free Detoxing Resource Guide to help you get started!
