Are you ready to supercharge your juices and to make sure you’re squeezing every bit of precious vitamins and minerals out of every drop?
Making freshly pressed organic juices is not only time consuming, but it costs money too! So we want to make sure we are getting the MOST out of every drop of juice we consume: this means optimising our ability to absorb the vitamins and nutrients.
Did you know that some vitamins are fat-soluble? This means that the presence of fat is essential for absorbing them. Vitamins A, D, E and K are all fat-soluble, and they perform important functions in the body and are necessary for good health!
When I heard this piece of information about fat-soluble vitamins + juicing from David Wolfe I was like OF COURSE! That makes so much sense.
I found once I started adding a bit of fat to my juices, I had some more detox effect symptoms lasted a few days from the vitamin boost (that’s why coffee enemas are so important, to help the detox that comes from juicing!).
If you’re feeling uneasy about adding fat, don’t worry about! Despite the old way of thinking, fat does not make you fat – in fact, fat is essential to your health and brain function!
You need a fat that won’t solidify when in water. Here are some options:
- flax seed oil (my pick)
- avocado oil
- olive oil
- coconut cream/milk
- any nut milk (eg. almond milk or cashew) – preferably homemade
- any nut oil – macadamia, almond, walnut
- chia seeds
For oils, choose organic cold-pressed virgin.
I simply add a few drops (up to a teaspoon) of flax seed oil in my juice.
