The mainstream medical and media narrative is that detoxing is a total myth. It’s a fad marketing gimmick. It’s a nonsense term that has no medical meaning and is hippy jargon.
I agree to a certain extent – it’s becoming a fad and a marketing gimmick. All those juice cleanses and teatoxes and crazy detox programs like the master cleanse, well, they give detox a bad name.
But detoxification IS a real and basic biochemical process that the body goes through. It’s our liver’s main job to process substances coming into the body and sort them out.
Toxins, in the medical/dictionary definition are poison or venom coming from plants or animals, for example a snake bite.
For our purposes of healing the body, when we’re talking about toxins we’re talking about any substance that irritates or harms the cells of the body. Read the rest of this post »
